About
Neptune explores water as a metaphysical, social, and political space. Inspired by the transformative nature of the element and its three states: solid, liquid, gas, the performance embarks on a choreographic journey along fluidity and transformation. Surrounded by melting blocks of ice, Alexander reflects on her position as a Black woman at the margins of power structures and rewrites this narrative from her own perspective. The work is a collaboration with scenographer Nina Kay and composer Sea Novaa. Through the interplay of dance, installation, and sound, Neptune opens up a speculative world in which new forms of being can be imagined.
